A few of my subscribers have asked, “Is there a way to make a WordPress Site on my computer or do I have to be online to do it?”
Yes! You can make WP sites on your computer and that’s just how the big girls and boys develop client sites.
Why do this? It’s just a lot easier and faster to make a site that way.
- No need to mess around with setting a user name and password since your site is not online. (Still need credentials to login into your WP Admin.)
- When you click Publish or Update, you don’t have to wait for your web host server to respond.
- It is much easier to edit and change files – or do anything with or to your database.
Plus, if you are working for a client, you won’t get bugged about little things as you make the site because the client won’t see the site until you are ready to show it.
In the past – and you can still do this – you’d have to mess around with MAMP, WAMP or XAMPP to make a WP Site locally. If you’ve got the time and inclination, go for it. A year ago I found the answer for people like me who want to just use something rather than learn too much.
